Simple + delicious = Two things make the perfect hole-in-a-wall. I love a GOOD dive/diner. The service is good and it's usually full of regulars. This is a no frills spot, so if you're looking for fancy -- this ain't it!
You can't go wrong with the menu. The prices are beyond fair. The food actually tastes good. The portions are perfect for sharing (not that you'd want to, because I DO NOT...lol) Everything smells AMAZING, so its really hard to decide. The griddle is a slab of delicious, piping hot goodness. I always say that I'm going to try something different, but I keep it simple with my go-to meal (crispy buttery buttermilk pancakes + eggs w/plenty of cheese + moist, tender sausage patties) -

Old-school service and value at this friendly, family-run greasy spoon diner. Minimally changed since the 1960s. Filling, tasty breakfast for about $10 a head. Hard to find that in DC these days!
Everyone is super nice, especially around kids. Standouts are the croissant sausage sandwich and the Denver omelette.
Tip: their bacon is below average; sausage or ham is a better bet. They also offer veggie sausage and turkey bacon. Still great for the energizing coffee, and the classic good vibes enjoyed by folks from all walks of life. -

Best greasy spoon around. Great pancake special or French toast special. Get the home fries (with onions). They could spruce up the joint. Especially the bathroom which is straight out the movie Saw. But overall super solid.
cash only! -

This is definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots in the area. This is a neighborhood staple and has been serving the community for a long time. It always feels like home when you walk in, the staff is very friendly and works quickly.
I got a bacon, egg, and cheese on white toast. My egg was cooked to perfection and the bacon was crispy. I also got a side of potatoes without onions which was well seasoned. I will definitely be coming back for more. Make sure you have cash if you come, that's all the accept. -

Murry & Paul's is the absolute definition of a solid and reliable breakfast spot. The service is friendly and the food is always great. Depending on your timing and day of the week, it can get pretty busy, but on a weekday breakfast you have your choice of booths vs. bar seating.
While you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, I am a big fan of the French Toast Special. It comes with three pieces of cinnamon French Toast (surprise!), two eggs made to order, and your choice of bacon vs. sausage. Seriously, what more could you ask for out of a breakfast.
Also, as an added they still serve Yoo-hoos, which I totally forgot even existed. Added points.
